TULIP - The Five Points of Calvinism

The Five Points of Calvinism

The TULIP acronym is used to summarize the core doctrines of Calvinism.
Explaining theologically what we believe
regarding the salvation of men.

And you were dead in your trespasses and sins..... (Ephesians 2:1)

The Doctrine of Total Depravity states that man, left on his own free will, cannot and will not come to God. Unless an alien work of grace opens his heart, his spiritual deadness will  keep on hindering him from receiving the Gospel.

...he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him... (Ephesians 1:4)

The Doctrine of Unconditional Election states that God, in His good pleasure and sovereignty and wisdom, has already chosen those whom He will save even before the world began.
And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. (John 6:39)

The Doctrine of Limited Atonement states that Christ's saving work on the cross, though sufficient for the salvation and redemption of all men, applies only to the elect.

"And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules." (Ezekiel 36:26-27)

The Doctrine of Irresistible Grace states that God can and does overcome the hardness of totally depraved or spiritually dead men by making them alive by His Spirit and Word. Thus, enabling them to truly repent and come to the saving knowledge of Christ.

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6)

The Doctrine of the Perseverance of the Saints states that those who have been elected in Christ and saved through the Gospel is kept and sanctified by God until the end or their coming glory. None of the chosen shall fall away.

TULIP - The Five Points of Calvinism

This is a personal project aimed, in a creative way, to advance some of the things that I believe theologically as a Christian.
